This could be the big one for Britney Spears ; a leading role in the musical, Grease, on Broadway. Casting won't be complete until July, but Britney is being considered to play the part of Sandy, who was originally played by Olivia Newton John in 1978. The role calls for Britney to take on the personality of a chaste and cute cheerleader type who in the end turns conforming to the hood image that will surely secure the boy love interest, played by John Travolta. One of the most popular musicals of all time and many seem to agree that Britney Spears would do a great job as Sandy. If Britney can pull this one off, it will surely go a long way in silencing the critics who question Britney's acting talent. After all, Britney Spears role in the TV hit, How I met Your Mother, has been well received.
There are also early inklings that Britney Spears may take the stage in a West End production of Tennessee Williams' play A Streetcar Named Desire. The pop star is currently being considered for a lead role, as Blanche Dubois. In the original stage production, Blanche was played by Jessica Tandy. The movie version has Vivian Leigh of Gone with the Wind fame as Blanche Dubois. A demanding role and would test Britney's success in high drama not just fluff stuff. Go Britney!

Britney Spears’ star is on the rise again! After what critics panned as a totally lousy performance at the MTV music awards last year, the October release of her new album ,Blackout, has done wonders for the slightly tarnished look of Brit lately. Britney Spears looked great at a recent party with Michael Jackson and word has it she is already back in the studio getting geared up for another album. No one is telling for sure yet, including famous producer J.R. Rotem. According to Rotem, Britney Spears possesses the star quality that just not everyone has. Rotem likes working with Spears and so while their brief romance last year did not blossom, let's hope their combined talents can produce another platinum record for Britney Spears.
Britney Spears's father will remain in charge of his daughter's life
Jamie Spears, Britney’s father, stays in control of his Britney’s life. A California Court of Appeal judge threw out a petition on Monday by one of her legal representatives disputing the elder Spears's co-conservatorship.
The Associated Press reported that Justice Roger Boren’s dismissal was based on the court's not having the authority to grant an appeal
The decision arrived the same day that Britney took a key step in revitalizing her waning livelihood with a cameo appearance How I Met Your Mother, a CBS sitcom.,. One event had nothing to do with the other
, Jon Eardley, an attorney said to represent Britney, filed the petition on March 11 to dispute Jamie Spears's function. Since Boren's decision Eardley has been unavailable for a statement.
Eardley filed a civil liberties challenge to the conservatorship on February 14th, which left the case in an indeterminate state for almost two weeks after which a federal judge refused to hear it.
Jamie Spears was named co-conservator of his daughter Britney’s manor on February 1st right after her hospitalization in a psychiatric facility for the second time. after it was found she could not care for herself. His power over her estate is effective until July 31st.
$58,800 disbursement to the conservatorship for legal fees and other expenses was made and Jamie was also paid $2,500 weekly and has the power to use his daughter's resources to lease a car for her security personnel. Britney is not allowed to leave California prior to a planned hearing April 7th unless she gets consent from the court or her father.
Madonna speaks out about Britney
Madonna has joined those talking about disturbed singer Britney Spears, and said she listens to Spears' new album Blackout while she’s exercising.
"I actually love Britney's new album, she said in an interview with New York radio station Z100 FM. I usually work out to her record. I do a combination of Pilates and dance aerobics. They (the media) need to step off. For real, let's go save her."
Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes, who is 11, agrees with her mother.
"She knows Britney, (but) she doesn't really watch TV or read gossip stuff," Madonna revealed in the interview. “I think she sort of gets the drift of what's going on, and I think she feels very protective of Britney."
